Birmingham Disability Festival – Saturday 6th July 2024 12pm til 4pm

Join Me At Bdf Square Social Post

Ways for Wellbeing UK CIC are coordinating the inaugural Birmingham Disability Festival taking place at Birmingham City University on Saturday 6th July 2024,.

The festival is being held during Disability Pride month! the month for all disabled people to celebrate their disabilities.

We are having a festival to include FUN ACTIVITIES and FOOD so that we can all FAF and enjoy ourselves.

Created by Birmingham Disability Festival Committee (BDFC), this FREE inaugural event showcases a wide range of disabled talent through performances, sport, interactive games and business owners and aims to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the UK’s second city.

The Festival features a packed day of events including live performances, arts and crafts, a Human Library, invaluable networking opportunities and essential resources to empower disabled people to thrive in their future.

Highlights of the Festival include dance performances from wheelchair based  Freewheelin and Cerebral Palsy West Midlands with music from Kinmos Choir and DJ Ben Linstead, a wheelchair user who has a regular set at Birmingham’s famous The Night Owl. Games and sports for people of all abilities will also be on offer including boccia, curling, blind football, volleyball and wheelchair basketball.

Running alongside performances, attendees can take part in workshops including: Ways for Wellbeing UK and BMET College’s nature and wellbeing workshops around the themes of planting; Tai Chi and on the spot muscle therapy from Release and Repair’s Roland Baskerville and a host of organisations run by people with disabilities who will be sharing their experiences and services in a dedicated marketplace.

We look forward to hosting an amazing festival where disabled people and allies can come together, celebrate disabilities, showcase their talents and gain valuable information from small independent organisations, social enterprises and sole traders, who may be small but are disabled led and are delivering services or goods to and for the disabled community.
